The Police have arrested no fewer than 105 suspected political thugs for various electoral offences during Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections in Imo State.
The suspects were said to have been arrested for snatching ballot boxes, disrupting elections, harassing electoral officials and impersonating policemen.
The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Dazuki Galadanchi, who disclosed this on Sunday, explained that investigations had commenced into the various offences allegedly committed by the suspects in custody.
He stated that the poll was largely hitch-free and smooth across the state, adding that investigation had commenced into the killing of one person at Umudi, Nkwerre Local Government Area.
There are unconfirmed speculations that the thugs were working for Alliance for Democracy (AA) but police however, debunked the speculations, says that investigations is still on going.
