Any surprise why members of welfare association of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) will be associated with visiting a destitute home to dine with them?
It was joy, merriment and praise on the part of inmates of the Imo State Rehabilitation Centre for Destitutes Umuneke Ngor in Ngor Okpala LGA and a sense of satisfaction and gratitude to God for members of welfare association of the Nigerian Social Insurance Trust Fund Owerri branch when the latter paid an impartation visit to the inmates of the home.
Making a presentation of the packages, the chairman of the welfare association, Mr Maxwell Emenike remarked that the gift items were donated by members of staff of the NSITF as a token of love in the spirit of Easter celebration.
Mr Uche Donatus Udorie, an adhoc staff of the destitute home who received members of the association extoled the chairman and members of the association for the love shown to them by dinning with the inmates at a time he noted,
‘it appeared they have been forgotten by good spirited members of the public’.
It is pertinent to point out that just as already hinted by Mr Udorie, the association confronted a home lacking in all critical amenities suitable for the reformation of the inmates.
He regretted the abject state of dereliction in which he and other scanty staff operate in while praying for urgent intervention from; government, churches, business concerns, foundations and philanthropist.
The Branch Manager of NSITF Owerri, Dr Chinwe Unamma and Administration Head/ Human Resource Dr Chioma Elezieanya as well as other members of the welfare association were part of the visit.
