A teenage student of government college owerri Imo state was again yesterday hit by a car at same location, same time a similar accident that was earlier reported by malizumedia last week happened. The teenage student sustained sever injury and was rushed to the hospital. The black Toyota Camry car (Toyota muscle) hit the student and stopped to help but as soon as he observed his condition was getting critical he absconded.
Recall that malizumedia reported a fatal accident that occurred along the busy owerri-Okigwe expressway. The accident that was involved two vehicles including a commercial taxi driver, popularly called taximo, and a saloon car at Government College.
The accident was as a result of students carelessly crossing the ever busy road and accidentally running into the saloon car, which prompted the driver to apply brake suddenly, the commercial taxi driver hit him from the back, the student was lucky to walk away unhurt, however his school bag and books were shattered.
We are calling and pleading on the state government to as a matter of urgency construct a pedestrian bridge for thousands of students crossing that busy road every day and immediately deploy road safety personnel’s to monitor and control traffic at this junction during morning and after school hours to prevent future occurrences.
